Wave Attenuation Over Mangroves in the Nanliu Delta, China

چکیده

Mangrove forests grow on tropical and subtropical coastlines play a significant role in reducing hydrodynamic energy. However, little information is known about the mechanism of wave attenuation caused by mangroves different ages, even though effects damping have received widespread concern. Here, series systemic biohydrological data were collected along cross-shore transect through with ages native Aegiceras corniculatum ( AC ) distribution Nanliu Delta China analyzed to investigate over during tidal conditions. The results showed that height decreased nearly 58.33%, transport distance 275 m seedling-sapling region, approximately 80%, 1,000 sapling-adult average. largest rate 3 × 10 −3 was found measured time period occurred section neap tide, while region had basically constant reduction 0.8 under changing Moreover, drag coefficient calculation indicated an seedling 0.55 more effective attenuating energy than stem part grown tree 1.2 m. seedlings saplings impacts damping, adult could produce decline differences stems canopies responsible for attenuation, degree inundation volume induced water level fluctuation might affect effect. Our documented distinct process which can inform superior designs coasts against background sea-level rise occurrence frequent typhoons.

Impacts of urbanization on net primary productivity in the Pearl River Delta, China

Great changes in land use/land cover from rapid urbanization have occurred in the PearlRiver Delta, China. As the primary cause of land development in the urbanization process, urban expansion has mostly occurred on land with higher NPP, significantly impacting theregional ecosystems. The primary purpose of this study was to reveal the impacts of urbanexpansion on the regional NPP. The land cove...
